Judy Sorgenfrei
I wish I could say that I had discovered ceramics back when I was in high school or college, but I came to it fairly late in life, about 18 years ago when I started taking classes and workshops.
Many of my ideas are best carried out by handbuilding, although I also enjoy wheelwork. Some of my work is "semi-functional" (like me, sometimes!), some of it is sculptural. I enjoy the challenges of figuring out how to construct a shape that I've imagined, given the limitations as well as the capabilities of clay. My work in clay is permeated by a sense of humor and fun; I hope it shows.
