After more than 20 years in the profession of nursing, I found myself craving to express my creativity. This came in the form of pottery.
Pottery for me is seeing the possibilities in my mind, the meditation of centering the clay and myself, the inherent male and femaleness in the motions, the flow of the clay between my hands, moving the lump into a volume, and adding some interesting curves. Sometimes happy accidents happen, sometimes exactly what I plan happens; often I learn from challenges; for me it is a process of flowing change and discovery. It seems, things happen for a reason.
My pottery is a study in extremes, and balance, tiny carved and decorated boxes, and large expressive and altered bowls, with functional and altered work in between.
